——The long awaited new album is finally going to be released ne.
「The album's concept follows the title "Color". All the members had the thought "For the album this time, I want it to have various types of songs ne" in mind and assembled various types of songs. Also for an album, putting in songs according to various responses/requests will make a lot of people happier right. There's ballad and R&B, rock and even Johnny's style songs. That is why after listening to the various songs, we will gather everyone's opinions which can be reflected by choosing the songs」
——What kind of content was the final completed task?
「There are many "nice songs" yo~ When I think about what makes a nice song, of course the content of the lyrics is important, I think it is also about the melody giving a good sensation/feeling. Most probably, I think this is how you judge whether the song is to your liking, but this time there are many nice and relaxing melody. And also, there are many beautiful songs」
——Of all the songs, which song do Yamashita san like the best?
「『Forever』. It is somewhat a little moody*, I like the lyrics very much too. I like it to the extent that I want it be a single」
[*note: in this case, moody doesn't really mean moody, but pi wrote "moody" in katakana... I think he's trying to say it has a nice feeling to the song, that sensation]
——This time, there is also a recording of Yamashita san's solo like the previous time, the solo 『MOLA』 is a very sexy song ne.
「The lyrics are all in English, the content is also very sexy ne」
——Was it difficult since the lyrics are all in English?
「I was the one who decided that the lyrics are to be in English. Along with the widespread use of internet, people in the world are now connected through the net. That is why this song too, it will definitely be spread to the whole world, it would be great if that is the case. In this kind of situation, English lyrics will leave a deeper impression on many people. The truth is, I wanted to compose the lyrics myself yo~ But it was a pity, I do not have time...... Firstly I have to choose the song, but a melody which could make me satisfied is very very hard to find. And once I finally found it, I have to go for recording straight away. That is why, for the sake of the next album, I will start composing lyrics starting from now onwards」
——So, what about the composition?
「Un, maybe it's still too early for a composition. Although I like western music, it's still hard to compose a song with western taste. Talking about western music, the song track and pronounciation of the lyrics are gorgeous and cool ne! It's not direct, but it used many comparison ways. I like Timbaland and Justin Timberlake, I'll get inspired when I listen to them」
——Currently you're doing a nationwide tour, what was performed during the tour?
「Not yet, we want to wait for the album to be released first and then perform」
——The previous 「pacific」 tour performance of 『Gomen ne Juliet』, watersprout was used and created an illusional effect which left a deep impression.
「This time it will be more natural. A dance to let everyone be charmed!」
——The concert this time round, you will take over Kinki Kids san for the end and starting of the year Tokyo Dome concert ne.
「I wish that our concert will not let Kinki Kids down. I hope everyone will feel that "I'm glad that NEWS will do the concert"」
